Vegan beancurd (tofu) in Germany

It’s not easy to find beancurd in Europe as i guess it’s not common food. However, i found this particular brand being sold in certain supermarkets such as REWE in Germany. I have used it for stir fry and noodle soups, just cook or boil longer to soften it.

Here’s one which is stir fried with romaine lettuce

Apple cider for fruits and veggies wash

Here’s an alternative for a fruits and veggies wash using Apple Cider. Apple cider vinegar is a good natural option as it is anti-bacteria and anti-fungal. It also helps wash away pesticides and chemicals. Try it!

Osprey Farpoint 70 Backpack

We love to travel, especially backpacking. For this, we have chosen the Osprey Farpoint 70 which actually consists of 2 bags, the main bag with 55 litres and a day pack of 15 litres.

The Farpoint 70 is really well designed and have excellent features including suitcase style opening (instead of the traditional top load backpack), a foldable cover for the straps to avoid getting caught on luggage belts during check-in and the daypack can either be rear or front mounted.

For a week’s travel, it’s probably sufficient to cater for 1-2 person.  We used this bag recently for the first time during our 1-week travel to Europe.

Bandar Tasik Puteri and Kundang via LATAR

With the opening of the Kundang exit on LATAR highway one can now get to Bandar Tasik Puteri and Kundang in Rawang directly thereby bypassing the main Rawang toll on the PLUS highway.

This saves a lot of time due to the heavy traffic flow on the main Rawang road if one is directly heading to these two locations.

You can get there via the Guthrie highway. If heading from Bukit Jelutong towards the north, exit the 3rd toll which is Lagong toll (1st being Bukit Jelutong and 2nd is the Elmina toll).

Next, exit to LATAR highway heading towards Bestari Jaya/Kuala Selangor.

Once on LATAR, it’s the first exit. There is a toll just before the exit but currently is free usage till Dec 2014.

Sony Cycle Energy 2800mAH battery stick

I got this portable battery as a replacement for my Yoobao after it failed despite being still new. I am not sure whether it’s due to poor product or or is a fake one. I am now wary of these ‘high’ capacity batteries that don’t deliver and last long.

This Sony 2800mAH will not be able to fully charge my Note 2 but i am hoping for a more reliable and consistent charge than an unreliable one. Maximum USB output is 1.5A which can’t charge any tablets. There is a 5000mAH model which can output 2A suitable for tablets and supports pass through charging, meaning you can charge the battery and the phone at the same time. Might consider to get the 5000mAH if these batteries from Sony works well.

Downside it doesn’t come with any AC charger, instead it is charged via a PC. Since the input accept up to 1A my Nexus S charger works perfectly to charge it

Bangkok (Nov 2013)

We are visiting Bangkok, Thailand for the first time. It’s a 2 hour flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

image

Below is the touchscreen entertainment on Malaysia Airlines newest 737-800

imageArriving at Suvarnabhumi International airport we first picked up a local SIM to get access to mobile data and calls. There are 2 shops located outside the arrival gates. We chose this one which cost 300 baht (around RM 30) which gives around RM 10 worth calls and unlimited Internet access for 7 days. Perfect for keeping in touch cheaply.

Kacang Putih at Buntong Ipoh

Kacang Putih is a favourite snack for many Malaysians. This place in Ipoh specialises in the making of kacang putih and mainly operates from homes which doubles as their production and shop.

There’s quite a number of these shops here and I choose to visit this one, D.N.S at Laluan Sungai Pari 4.

I bought a few varieties to try which are fresh and cheaper than in KL.
