Kacang Putih is a favourite snack for many Malaysians. This place in Ipoh specialises in the making of kacang putih and mainly operates from homes which doubles as their production and shop.
There’s quite a number of these shops here and I choose to visit this one, D.N.S at Laluan Sungai Pari 4.
I bought a few varieties to try which are fresh and cheaper than in KL.

Balik Pulau in Penang is famously known for it’s durian orchards and producing quality durians such as Hor Lor, Red Prawn, etc. It is located on hilly slopes past the beaches of Batu Feringhi. One well known durian orchard is the Bao Sheng durian farm where you can enjoy a ‘eat all you can’ durian buffet. There are several buffet options depending on the quality of durians offered.
Unforunately during our visit the high quality durians were not in season yet so we tried other types. We only managed to eat around 10 durians but the quality is good and fresh. Please do check their website (http://www.durian.com.my/) and schedule of durian season if you plan to visit.
Below route map shows from Pulau Tikus to the Bao Sheng farm (captured using Garmin Mobile XT on a Nokia E71 phone in tracking mode). The route after passing the butterfly farm is quite hilly and winding before reaching the farm.
